My wife was away for a long weekend and I spent an uninterrupted few days in my art studio forming casseroles. The theme of “fish handles” on covered vessels is not new to me, but on this piece, I found myself adding shells, starfish and sand to the lid . The more I worked on this detail, the more hungry for seafood I became (the power of suggestion?). I looked up at the clock and it said 7pm, but my appetite said it was later. So I got on the phone to one of my favorite seafood restaurants down on the harbor from us and placed a request for a takeout of scallops, shrimp and clams in a linguine and clam sauce. Whewww! What a feast I had sharing this with my dog Ivy. We both felt as if we had died and gone to Heaven! There have been times when a food recipe has suggested my making a vessel to fulfill the cooking of it, but here, it is the other way around.
“Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant?? I’m halfway through my fish burger and I realize, Oh my God....I could be eating a slow learner.”
Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973)
