Creating A Mold For A Basic Shape.

In this series of wall sculptures I designed a plaster “press mold” - a concave plaster shape to press wads of clay into the void until it is filled, then after the clay has dried a bit, the shape is removed and each shape is individually modeled, separately to its own unique design. The series is related by the common basic shape. It is just another way of working.

Same basic shape, but instead of going onto a wall, it’s onto a garden pedestal for this one.

From the beginning, these two seemed to be companion pieces and presently hang in my garden gazebo. Similar ones were created and sold.

They are only about three inches deep and because of the lighting in the gazebo, that depth doesn’t show up.
